A good day to you. Whatever your time is, anywhere you are in the world, it’s a pleasure to speak to you today, and I hope that if you have questions from the things I’m going to say now, you will drop your comments or your questions as you listen.
We’re in interesting times, and I do not want us to lose sight of what the times represent. At Rainyday, we are not just a cooperative; we are a community of people with complementary skills, so as you look around yourself, remember that opportunities will keep presenting themselves.
There is a generational shift going on; our parents’ generation is exiting the stage, and we are coming into our own. A wise man said, power is never handed to you à la carte, and what forms one’s power base are the needs that you meet or the responsibilities that you carry in society, and you get paid for it from a business point of view.
There is always an opportunity in a crisis, and you need to understand how to tap that opportunity, which comes by observation and questioning. For us, we are going to keep doing first-party projects because that is where we can directly impact the lives of people with our resources, and then more people can eagerly join us. We continue to do this and put money in each other’s pockets, which is why programs like the USD savings, naira investment, and our furniture brand.
One thing that I first told people here since 2023 when this government came in. They are incapable of executing hard things that matter, but they like accolades, so the crown awaits the people who can solve real problems. And it is there that wealth comes from.
If you need to grow your wealth in this generation, you need to be mindful of this. The usuals are changing, which means even stable instruments like the USD savings and such are not going to always give you the best of returns. But being able to know what matters, having a blend of all these opportunities, would make sense for you in the short and long term. That’s why we are pushing for housing, for naira investment, for USD savings, and for building a furniture brand.
It is the collection of all of these things that makes us better every passing day. Not one, not, oh, “I like the dollar more than the naira”. We have a good time playing the ancient and the modern, and I hope that we will continue to commit ourselves to these things. Thank you very much.
